A shoutout from a celeb on Cameo is the best personalized gift, actually

Finding the perfect, personalized gift for someone all but guarantees you’ll get the warm fuzzies. In that sense, it’s essentially a gift for you, too.But one can only pick out so many customized mugs, wine-themed knickknacks, and funny socks. Plus, in a year plagued with shipping delays and supply chain issues, a digital gift seems like less fuss than a physical one — especially if it’s last minute. For those who really relish the live reaction, something like a gift card may feel a bit cold. Hear me out: A Cameo is a genuinely great personalized gift. There are a lot of different paths you could take here, so get some inspo below from people who have already given or received one of these digital videos via Cameo. What is Cameo? On the scene since 2017, Cameo is an app where regular people (👋) pay select celebrities to record a short, personalized video for a designated recipient. You can make one for yourself, but according to Cameo, 80% of its videos are purchased as gifts for someone else. Celebrity categories include reality TV stars, actors (multiple people from The Office are on there), athletes, musical artists, comedians, and cringe-worthy politicians. Naturally, prices depend on how big the name is. Videos can be as affordable as $20 for someone like Bobo from Finding Bigfoot, a middle-ground $200 for Oscar Nunez from The Office, and jump all the way up to $1,350 for rapper/actor Ice Cube. The average video will cost you just around $50 though. Some celebrities on the app donate their earnings to charity. For last-minute gifts, check out the “24 hour delivery” section that boasts stars with quick replies, like Tony Hawk and Kate Flannery. Santa himself is available if you’re gifting to a kid.But Cameo gem status isn’t necessarily achieved

44 things you forgot happened in 2021

Apparently, the pandemic-induced time distortion that defined 2020 didn’t get the memo about the new calendar year. Looking back, the events of 2021 turned out to be just as mind-meltingly difficult to keep track of as last year’s.But we are once again here to jog your memory about the wrong timeline we continue to live through.  There’s a reason why, in the beginning of the year, people were already doing retrospectives on what went down in the first week and first hundred days of 2021. It was kinda darkly funny at first, the impossibility of keeping up with the sheer amount of timeline-breaking, unprecedented shit happening. Then it just went on, and on, and on, and stopped being funny and started messing with our grasp on reality again.

Whether you spent 2021 still trying to process 2020 or simply did not have the capacity to clock it all in the memory bank, we’ve compiled a list of the good, the bad, the weird, and the forgettable from this year. While this isn’t a list of all of the year’s major moments (otherwise, we’d be here well into 2022), we’re sure you’ll find lots that make you want to launch into a rambling Matthew McConaughey monologue about time being a flat circle.1. Bean Dad and Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical rang in the new year as the first viral memes of 2021.

While their energies could not have been more different, you couldn’t escape these viral characters if you were online in the first week of 2021. #BeanDad discourse — over the dad with a polarizing method for teaching his daughter how to open a can of beans — triggered Twitter into a spiral of their non-bean-related daddy issues. Meanwhile,

Rivian R1T is first electric pickup to win MotorTrend's 'Truck of the Year'

If the rave reviews (including Mashable’s) didn’t convince you about Rivian’s first auto, an all-electric truck called the R1T, maybe this will: It was just named MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year for 2022.The $73,00 pickup with 314 miles of range beat out other new or updated truck models like the GMC Hummer EV, Ford Maverick (a hybrid), Hyundai Santa Cruz, and others. Last year’s winner was the Ram 1500 TRX.MotorTrend’s head of editorial Ed Loh called it a historic win. It’s the first all-electric truck to win and the first time MotorTrend has given a car maker the top title for its first vehicle. The R1T was first delivered to customers at the end of September. Rivian plans for a second car, the R1S electric SUV, to arrive later in 2022.

It can handle city driving.
